Back in 2013, Author, Business owner, and reality star, Toya Wright was set to return to reality tv with her husband producer, Memphitz Wright in a new show entitled ‘Crazy In Love’ but their anticipated debut never happened.
Earlier this summer, the couple [who married in 2011] seem to be headed for splitsville amid infidelity rumors, along with singer, K.Michelle’s public lawsuit allegations about physical abuse she suffered at the hands of Memphitz Wright in a previous relationship. Toya and Memphitz provided no public joint statement, but the two gave subtle responses that there was some trouble in the marriage, and they were living in separate quarters. Memphitz began posting questionable nude pics while Toya promoted her Garb boutique and shoetique business, making appearances at events without her wedding ring.
Toya says that Memphitz was a changed man after the public scandal and his termination [as an A&R] from Viacom. Memphitz says the contrary, and claims that he felt abandoned from his wife when she decided to forgo their reality show which he felt would’ve redeemed his public image.
Fast forward to present day, the two sought couple’s therapy to work through their marital woes, and they’ve enlisted divorce lawyer Vikki Zeigler on Bravo’s ‘Untying The Knot’ reality show. In last night’s episode, Memphitz denounced the option of divorce and Toya argued that living separately is not an ideal concept in the couple’s marriage, but then a stunning revelation follows. Vikki asks Memphitz if he is cheating on Toya; hence the reason for him wanting the two to live in separate households and he replies:

And the internet went up in flames, so let’s talk shall we.
Let’s start with Toya. I am not surprised to hear that Toya is NOT permitted the same privilege in her marriage, because sadly this is often the ‘consensus’ of most women who date men athlete’s, affluent men, elite businessmen, rappers, drug dealers, and the alike, and quite frankly some of these women are ‘ok’ with the arrangements in their relationship – whether married or exclusive.
How Could A Couple Be Exclusive or Married If One Partner Is Allowed To Cheat?
As noted by Toya, there are certain terms of the agreement that are set [at the start of the relationship/marriage] for spousal cheating. There’s this traditional myth that ‘all men cheat’ and if they haven’t done so in the early stages of the relationship, it’ll eventually happen as the relationship grows, and thus women must choose to deal with it or leave the relationship. So, for most women who have had their hearts broken, have repeatedly been cheated on, the idea of a partner cheating is not a far-fetched idea.
Unfortunately for some women [who disapprove] they’d rather ‘suffer their pain in silence’ because they’ve become dependent on their partner/spouse and they stand to lose ‘their trophy wife’ title they’ve worked so hard for and their relationship ‘benefits’ and or they don’t have the financial means to go solo but that’s not the case with Toya and Memphitz. Toya is well established and financially capable to take care of herself and child without a man which Memphitz highlights in the interview.
Ironically, Toya didn’t seem to be as enthused by her decision when she was questioned about it but still onboard to give her relationship a second chance. For me, the backlash falls more with the couples daughter’s but particularly with Reginae [first daughter for rapper, Lil Wayne] who seems to have been brought up in this cycle of behavior [from childhood up through the present] from each of her parents.
What Is The Message That Toya Is Sending To Reginae?
During ‘Tiny and Toya’ reality show, Toya admits that she divorced Lil Wayne due to his cheating ways, yet she went on to exchange marital vows with Memphitz who she consequently permits to do the same but for a limited amount of days per year. Clearly, the terms of their agreement are not working in the best interest of their marriage; hence why the two are at current odds.
Onto Memphitz. His current status is ‘Golden’ at the moment. Here’s a man [whose marriage is in shambles right now] firmly announcing that he does not believe in divorce nor does he want to turn in his ‘Hall Pass’ . Quite Frankly, Memphitz is living the life [that many men secretly desire], and he’s loving it.
During the interview, Memphitz seemed content that his marriage will stand the test of time, as long as Toya ‘go with the flow’ of things. It’s fare to say that he stands with the ‘polygamy’ philosophy.
But what about the ‘added baggage’ that can comes along from this Hall Pass? We’re talking eight days per year. So, what does this actually mean? There are alot of unanswered questions that has yet to be discussed. Here’s a few that comes to mind.
Is Memphitz Allowed To Cheat With Whomever He Pleases?
Are There Subterms To The Initial Agreement? Like,
Is Memphitz Required To Wear A Condom At All Times?
Is Toya Notified About Memphitz Bedding Partners [like most women are in polygamy marriages] ?
Is Memphitz Allowed To Produce A Child On His Hall Pass ?
Did Memphitz Have To Get A Vasectomy To Be Pre-Approved For The Hall Pass ?
What Assurances Are Provided Toya?
, And Ultimately What Perks and or Benefits Do Toya Get From This Hall Pass?
While this is a something that I would not tolerate in my marriage, I’d be naive in thinking that ‘polygamy’ relationships cannot work, because for many couples it does, and that is ultimately the choice of the partners involved. Toya and Memphitz maybe the ‘celebrity couple’ in the hot seat at the moment, but they’re not alone.
