CeeLo Green music career is headed down a slippery slope. The ‘Forget You’ singer recently plead ‘no contest’ to charges from a 2012 incident involving an alleged rape but it was his foolish actions that followed immediately after that has him in the ‘hot seat’ once again.
CeeLo real name Thomas DeCarlo Calloway, went on twitter to vent his feelings and made some questionable tweets concerning the allegation charges one of which is not show below. CeeLo mentions “People Who Have Really Been Raped REMEMBER! “
The comments has since been deleted but the damage was already done. This week CeeLo was dropped from two concerts.
” I truly and deeply apologize for the comments attributed to me on Twitter. Those comments were idiotic, untrue and not what I believe -says CeeLo “
Cee Lo was set to perform at Navy sponsored Freedom Live concert; a benefit concert for Naval District Washington as part of the military’s Morale, Welfare, and Recreation program! The NDW has removed CeeLo from the headlining list and says concert goers can receive a refund for their tickets is they so chose.
” We seek a Department-wide culture of gender dignity and respect where sexual assault is completely eliminated and never tolerated, where sexual assault victims receive compassionate and coordinated support, where offenders are held appropriately accountable.
Unfortunately, one of the performers we signed for the JBAB Freedom Live show on Sept 20th recently posted comments on social media that we consider to completely inconsistent with Navy core values. Regardless of intent or context, the lack of sensitivity towards an issue that is one of the great challenges facing our Navy is unacceptable.
As a result, we have made the decision to pull CeeLo Green from the Freedom Live event on Sept 20th. Little Big Town, the main attraction for the event will still perform as scheduled. We will announce as soon as possible a replacement opening act of the high quality that you expect and deserve. “
The second concert cancellation comes from Gretna Heritage Festival in Louisiana. According to the concert producers CeeLo recent remarks is not on par with their concert mission. “Our community does not condone these disparaging remarks ‘.
Sometimes it’s just better to keep your thoughts to yourself. Stay tuned PLUM’s!
