Ok PLUM’s. It took me a few days to write this because I really did not believe this story to be true. Where do I begin. There are so many questions surrounding the bruised images of Ava Lynn [above].  The caption is simple #JusticeForAvaLynn

According to the story Ava’s mother, Lacey Harris went to pick up her daughter from school only to find her face swollen with abrasions beyond recognition.

” Harris says that her daughter claimed that another student kicked her repeatedly in the face until she fell off the slide on the school playground. According to the Administrators of Arlington Elementary School, there is no evidence to support Ava’s claim citing that there were no teachers present at the alleged time of the incident. Ava received medical treatment and her parent was contacted.”

Sidebar:  What a lame and lousy excuse! Surely our tax dollars [at the very least] are used to protect the children. Are there no camera’s on elementary school grounds. Sounds like a new law needs to be set in place in the state of Mississippi.

At this time, Harris has move forward with criminal charges against the Pascaguola School District, and the PSD is sticking to their story writing in statement:

” A student was injured playing on the playground at Arlington Elementary School Tuesday afternoon. School officials responded to the situation. The parent was contacted and the student received medical treatment. No other children were involved in the incident. The Pascagoula School District remains committed to the safety of all its student’s . “

As a mother, this entire story does not sit well with me. Imagine picking up your child up eight hours after you’ve dropped them off only to find your child’s entire face disoriented from what CLEARLY appears to be an ASSAULT of some kind. Meanwhile, the school provides you with no answers nor an explanation of what ‘happened to your child’. Once again,  the Pascagoula School District should think about installing camera’s on school grounds. If camera’s were in play, we would be able to see who is telling the truth here.

I also think this story brings up the debate on kids being home schooled instead.  I have close friends who have opted to home school their children for some of these same concerns. When something of this nature happens it only heightens the mistrust between our educational institutions and school participants; and we’re just scratching the surface with this one.

We’ve witnessed how many kids [who are the victims of ‘bullying at school] are deeply ‘scarred’ by their experience at school, and go on to  commit suicide acts to free themselves of the pain.  In this case, what is Ava’s parents to believe? How will Ava recover from this? Sheesh! Do I need to go on any further!

which ultimately withdraws a student from wanting to attend school.  local communities; and were not even talking about the academic curriculum.
