Michelle Williams Talks Depression, New Gig On FELA & Beyonce Lip Sync Scandal On GMA!

Michelle Williams [one third of Destiny’s Child] appeared on ‘Good Morning America‘ show today  to dish on her new gig as the lead female in the broadway hit musical show FELA, her recovery from depression [which she says she endured during her days as a member of  Destiny’s Child] and lastly, while there- Michelle was asked to weigh on the  the Beyonce Lip-Synching controversy that’s been buzzing around the media airwaves.  Michelle affirmed her friendship loyalty and said the following:

“It’s disappointing and saddening to me,” Michelle Williams said today on “Good Morning America” of the controversy that exploded in the press after members of the U.S. Marine Corps Band insinuated the pop icon may not have belted out the anthem live.  “It’s just shocking to me that it’s taken on this.”

“I love her so much.  I know what she possesses. That was such a big moment for her and I just wish people would just let it go and just continue to look for what she’s going to be bringing for ya’ll in the future.”

When asked if there was truth to the rumor that Destiny’s Child would be reuniting at the Superbowl Half time show  Michelle  says its unlikely at the moment but noted that she is currently working hard and in rehearsal with her FELA castmates. Williams is set to embark on a 16-city tour  [starting in Washington D.C]  playing the role of  Sandra Isadora, Kuti’s African-American lover in the broadway musical show, FELA. .

As for the new Destiny’s Child compilation album, Michelle says:

“It just showcases where we left off from but it feels like we never left. The vocals are just beautiful. I had a chance to put my two cents in the song [“Nuclear” – new record] ]and I’m just so happy that we had that moment again.”

Destiny’s Child new album drops on Jan. 29. The album features a few new track and other previously release hit songs.

Michelle also talked about her battle with depression since the age of 15 Michelle told the Associated Press she has been able to manage it through exercise, therapy and positive thinking.

“When I brought that up it wasn’t planned, it wasn’t strategic.  I didn’t plan on telling that,” she said on “GMA,” confirming she has created the Michelle T. Williams Foundation to help others struggling with the disease.

“I just want people to know that it’s okay to go talk to somebody,” she said.  “It’s okay to go get some help.  It’s really okay to deal with whatever it is that had you so low.  I choose to be happy.  It is a choice.  I choose life and God has blessed me with a great one.”
