Teyana Taylor is officially off of Pharell’s Star Trak label and the new signee of Kanye West’s “Good Music” record label. Clearly, this was a far stretch from home but it was worth the wait. The 21 year-old harlem rapper/singer/actress spent years [since her debut on MTV’s My Super Sweet Sixteen show] trying to emerge onto the hip-hop scene but it often felt as if she’s came to fork in the road with nowhere to turn. Teyana Taylor always had the talent but she lacked the proper machine to get her career on track.
Well, that all seems to have changed. Kanye West had taken a liken to the Taylor a few years ago and it was always questioned as to why she was never signed then. Rumors quickly surface alleging that there was a secret relationship between the two, but they quickly shut that down and Teyana made it very clear that she was happily in love with her NBA baller Brandon Jennings. Teyana actually worked with Kanye West on his fifth album, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy and the rest was history from there on.
Teyana will be revealing details about her first G.O.O.D. Music LP and forthcoming singles in the next few weeks. In April, she debuted a new mixtape, ‘The Misunderstanding of Teyana Taylor‘, which pays tribute to Lauryn Hill and her other early influences, including Mary J. Blige and Janet Jackson.
We can finally say goodbye to Byronnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn! Teyana will be off the music scene as she focuses on her upcoming solo lp. Way to go Teyana. We will be watching!
