Miami-based Industry Lifestyle Influencer Ashlee Jenae whose real name is Ashly Robinson, 31 was found un-alive just a few days after a luxury birthday trip to Zanzibar Tanzania, Africa with her fiancé Joe McCann, 45. This trip was to be one for the history books for Ashly who coined herself the ‘Soft-Life Divestor‘, and she spared none with her daily vlogging of her daily life including her recent engagement to Joe who is the founder of Asymmetrical Financial.
According to Tanzanian Authorities, Ashly’s sudden cause of death was ruled a suicide by self-strangulation. Joe was not listed as a person of interest initially despite the noticeable ‘red flag’s, public outrage‘, and alarming questions that were brought forward from Ashly’s friends and family on social media.
This was not Joe’s first time visiting Zanzibar; and he’s a frequent visitor suggests locals. However, the culture in Zanzibar, Africa is quite different than what one would assume. White people especially the patriarchy males are revered and treated as ‘SAVIORS’ to the natives due to the colonial power structure in Zanzibar.
Despite all the good talks about the paradise island, and beautiful safari landscape – there is a dark side that exists there like many countries that hold different law systems than the United States. This was Ashly’s first time visiting Zanzibar, and without situational awareness she may have led to ‘walk into the lion’s-den’ by Joe.

We now have updated information that has come out over the details that may have led up to influencer’s untimely demise, and McCann reportedly is currently being detained and held for questioning in the matter until the autopsy and ongoing investigation is done.
Let’s begin with Ashly’s parents who received first contact by Joe two days after Ashly was pronounced deceased. Ashlee’s bio-logical parents are divorced from one another and have their own relationship with other persons and recently spoke to reporters about their troubling concerns. Ashly’s mother says Joe called her and informed her that something happened to Ashlee 11 hours prior and she had been taken to the hospital and she was stable and fine.
Shortly thereafter, Ashly’s parents were contacted by hotel management followed by an email from the Tanzanian embassy of the heartbreaking news of her passing on April 10th, 2026. Joe never followed up with Ashly’s parents until this day, and he has since deleted all of his pictures and posts on Instagram. Ashly’s second back up page has also been deleted from Instagram as well.
Ashly’s parents Yolanda Endres and father Harry Robinson says this is all troubling and confusing to them because Ashly appeared happy and full of excitement on a video call with them following her live engagement to Joe and things seem pretty good between the two.
But something else took place just days later; Ashly called her mother and said that her and Joe had a heated argument which led to the two of them being given different ‘villa rooms’ to avoid any disturbance to other guests. This was confirmed by the North Ungunja Regional Commander Benedict Mapujira who oversees all the police operations in the northeast region of Zanzibar. The couple’s argument was reported on April 8th, 2026.
The two had already moved from their previous hotel where they were in engage to the Zuri Zanzibar Resort. Joe never followed up with Ashly’s parents since their engagement announcement, and on August 9th, 2026. Ashly was later found unconscious in her hotel room by the butler staff, and reportedly died in the hospital thereafter.

New reports suggest that Joe had brought another male friend on the couple’s trip and the argument Ashly had with Joe in the reception area of the hotel in front of staff members was due to Joe and his male friend allegedly doing ‘freak-offs’ with other female locals at night time. Witnesses of the hotel staff heard Ashly accusing Joe of cheating on her. The tense argument is what led to the couple to be placed in separate villas away from one another. Ashly was scheduled to leave on April 10th, So how did Ashly end up deleted?
Ashly appeared to be living the ‘high-end risky life’ as we call it. From traveling on private jets, daily dressings in top lavish designer fashions, ‘being in the scenes of it all’, and visiting different countries month-to-month like daily fun chores is not the typical showcase life of the average woman and or business woman. Ashly was THAT girl; young, beautiful, brown skin, and getting it. Her success at just 31-years old was ruffling feathers before she met Joe and it increased during her relationship with Joe McCann.
Online rumors suggest that Ashly may have dealt in the night life club industry where she met Joe; a recent divorcee in the Miami life night scene back in November of 2024. Ashly friends did confirm that Ashly did serve as a ‘bottle girl’. What is also truth is that Ashly worked for a talent agency and was a contracted paid model for hair, clothing, swim wear for numerous industry brands that gained her notoriety and popularity in various entertainment artist videos as well. Nonetheless, It is with certainty with what has already come forward to the light , there is ‘foul play’ in this murder case.
As we await for the autopsy report to be delivered on Friday April 17th, and more details to unfold we’d like to express our deepest condolences to Ashly Robinson’s family. As with many of these particular cases similar to the Shaquella Robinson story, it is very expensive to fight for justice of your love ones who are slain in other countries, and have their bodies transported back home from overseas.
