Former Basketballwives star, Jennifer Williams [on left] has decided to drop her lawsuit against her former friend Nia Crooks given her current stresses of her ongoing divorce with her former NBA player Eric Williams] According to a close source of the star,
“Jennifer is already dealing with her difficult divorce and”didn’t it feel it was necessary to continue to pursue civil action” reports TMZ.
However, Williams is still adamant about justice being served and assured her fans that the criminal charges in the case will stick despite her dropping the civil lawsuit. Jennifer tweeted:
“FYI dropping a civil lawsuit doesn’t mean you don’t have to deal with the criminal charges,”
Sidebar: Something sounds fishy here. I initially thought that Jen dropped the charges now that she’d mended faces with Evelyn, Shaunie, and Tami on the reunion show but after review of Jen’s tweet, it seems as though Jen dropped the civil suit because of “MONEY” [which we all know Nia Crooks simply does not have]. It’s was probably , costing Jen more dollars to pursue the action knowing good and well that she wasn’t going to be able to get a dime of it back from Nia. Now the criminal charges issimply “back pay of revenge” which I can’t say I’m oppose to giving that it was an act of violence and was conducted on live television.
The sneakiness of this whole thing is that in law, the victim doesn;t have to testify against their accuser/or in this case “assaulter” when the evidence is clear as day [ie: national televsion]. Therefore, if Jen had also decided to drop the criminal charges, Crooks could be charged by the state court for misdemeanor charge and JEN knows that! Smart one Jen!
Keep in mind Jen said she suffered psychological damages following the slap incident. Hmm?
Meanwhile, Nia attorney released this statement:
“We have always maintained that the frivolous lawsuit brought on by Jennifer Williams was nothing short of a last-gasp attempt to maintain her dwindling relevance on the Basketball Wives.”
