Gayle King’s Attempt To Tarnish Kobe Bryant’s Legacy In Interview With WNBA Player Lisa Leslie Backfires Big Time!

In less than two weeks in light of the tragic death of legendary basketball star, Kobe Bryant, his 13-year old daughter and seven other in the Jan.26 helicopter crash; we see the UGLY side of MEDIA rise from the ashes.

Simple human ethics of showing compassion, integrity, and respect to the deceased and the families in grievance no longer trumps salacious scandal and viewer ship ratings for many mainstream MEDIA outlets.

This is no subtle nuance for MEDIA giants that prophet off the demise and degradation of human casualties. This week, CBS morning host Gayle King becomes the central target on the verge of being ‘cancelled by the culture‘ after her recent clip airing of her interview with former WNBA player Lisa Leslie went viral.

Gayle King is an experienced accredited black journalist + tv correspondent who is well aware of the on/off screen shananighans that takes place in MEDIA (which includes EDIT pieces for marketing promotions to scale up viewership) is all too familiar with these subtle nuances. After opening the discussion about Bryant’s impact and inspiration to the WNBA Gayle asks Leslie: if she – as a woman and WNBA player feels that Bryant’s legacy is complicated because of the 2003 rape allegation he was accused of and later acquitted.

Leslie responds: ” It’s Not Complicate To Me At All.”

Gayle seemingly dismayed by Leslie’s response makes a second attempt to undermine the credibility of Bryant’s 20-year friendship with Leslie with a follow up statement and rebuttals: “Lisa, you wouldn’t see it, though. As his friend, you wouldn’t see it.” – in efforts to redirect the narrative focus to the long time scandal. Leslie’s final response eloquently ends the topic.

What was JARRING about the five-minute clip was seeing Gayle intentionally attempt to tarnish the legacy of Bryant; a man who dedicated more than 20 years of his life establishing an extraordinary legacy path professionally and personally in the wake of his death.

Gayle has issued no formal public apology to the Bryant family as a result of the backlash but felt compelled to release a response where she blames her own network for causing controversy amongst the black collective while declaring that there will be an intense discussion about the edit clip release.
