Why So Many People Of Color Do Not Trust The Police!

Greetings PLUM’s!  I’m back after a few week’s hiatus of posts, and sadly I bring you another story regarding the ongoing misuse of force at the hands of police brutality in the United States Of America. When will it end? Just last month, six Baltimore police officers were suspended with pay, and indicted  following the death of an unarmed young black man,  Freddie Gray,  who was beaten severely by police and died shortly after falling into a coma while being transported into a police van.

This weekend, texas police officer McKinney Corpal, Eric Casebolt was captured on video assaulting an unarmed black teen following a pool incident on a warm sunny day in Texas. According to the news report, police were called to a upper-class neighborhood to diffuse a crowd of teens that were  ‘allegedly’ uninvited to a community pool.

The incident took place in the park on Riverwalk Trail just outside of the Craig Ranch HOA’s swimming pool in Mckinney, says one eye witness.

According to another eye witness account, who uploaded video on social media, the group of teens were ‘invited’ to the pool party to celebrate the ending of the school year but that didn’t go over well with a few community residents.  “All the ‘teens’ were having a ball”, says one witness. However, there was too much ‘black’ presence,  and a mild altercation ensued after one woman ‘allegedly’ issued racists slurs towards a group of black teens. The incident took place in the park on Riverwalk Trail just outside of the Craig Ranch HOA’s swimming pool in Mckinney.

Feel free to catch up on the commentary and watch the snippet video of the  HERE

As a mother, I cannot explain the anger, and rage that I feel after watching this video. This  unarmed young woman was pulled by her hair, slammed to the ground, placed under arrest as officer Casebolt  pinned his knees on her backside. The teen is heard crying in pain, shouting that the officer is hurting her, and asking for her mother. Two unarmed black teens approach the scene, and the officer immediately draws his handgun, and chases off the teens.  Why did the officer not reach for his taser, or  his baton first?

Sidebar: I think both the police officer’s and the ‘watchmen’  [with the beige shirt and blue denim pants who is casually assisting the officer in quelling the black teens] names should be released to the public so they can feel the same fear, shame, and wrath that this young girl endured.

The officer has been paid on administrative leave [aka paid leave] , and the Mckinney department sheriff has given the public his word that an investigation will be conducted without prejudice. But sadly, we’ve heard this repetitious line one too many times.

There were so many errors on the police officer’s account, which is clearly shown,  but I’m also angered by the visuals in the arrest video.  Only the black teen’s are placed under arrest, and are spoken to harshly. As one commentator noted over at Boyce Watkins  youtube channel :

” if you noticed but he told the camera man “get your butt out of here” but told the black kids “get your asses over there”. Total disrespect but yet they [cops]  demand respect. Different treatment, and  different languages used. The camera person was in the middle of everything not once did he tell them get on the ground etc. “

Another commentator talked in depth about the ‘plague’  of our society [with MEDIA at the forefront that constantly shows ‘black people’ in a position that is less powerful and valuable to white persons,  and ultimately useless for establishing black power. Take a read below:

” Every chance I get I am adamant about the influence various forms of media has on perception. People are so unaware how the visuals, publicity of events, and even music they take in affects their subconscious. The mind is like a human version of a computer and all we allow into it is like software. Many if not all of us have received software since birth. Things we see in our environment, what people have said to us, what we have experienced, how we have been treated, what we’ve seen on television, news, what we have listened to. All these things have culminated to chisel each of our respective slabs of rock causing them to take on a particular shape.

When you have films that have black characters dying first what is that saying (these lives are of lesser value?) When your movies where only the white person is saving everyone from something or is the only one who’s courageous, what is that software saying (only we have this quality?)  When you watch a million commercials that has one black woman/man interacting with whites in a friendly manner, what is that software saying? How are they portrayed? How do they act? Are they representations of how we are or how someone wants us to be?

I look at these shows like ‘The Walking Dead’ and every ethnic character on that show, if they have a love interest, that interest is white(besides black man in the beginning-and his wife is already a dead zombie). What is that software saying(look to us not your own?)?

I always pay close attention to the dialogue spoken to or that comes from black characters because many times there are slick statements passed. What software are we feeding ourselves when we’re making songs about money, promiscuity, or hurting our own people? All these things take a toll on how we act, see ourselves, and they also influence us subconsciously to make decisions. Just like a young basketball player may want a white woman because every time he sees those before him, that’s what they have. Or the same  young man wants to be a rapper or athlete because he doesn’t see his likeness anywhere else except there.

The kid in L.A. who may idolize gang culture because that’s his social software. The kid in Harlem that feels he should be a hustler and get money because that’s his social software. The young girl who may want a white guy because he’s the only one she sees being able to have loving relationships, having bravery, acting loving toward a woman, or because she sees a black woman able to have power when being with a white man(Scandal) or black women in the company of whites in television shows. Its all software that is used in social engineering and we have to be aware that this stuff causes many to imitate what they see. Just think if we ALL were aware of this, possessed, and used this information to make positive software for ourselves. Just think of the kind of people we would be creating and the type of actions we would be influencing.

This is why its necessary for us to build and operate our own mediums with this knowledge. Someone else is utilizing this power for their own benefit and we are suffering from their usage of it. “
