Elizabeth Lauten is now the former Republican House staffer, after offending the president’s daughters, Sasha & Malia in a Facebook post rant over the thanksgiving holiday. Lauten like many witnessed the annual ‘turkey’ pardon ceremony by President Obama [via television broadcast], but unlike many, she was personally distracted by Sasha, 13 and Malia, 16 Obama’s dress and behavior at the ceremony.
” Act like being in the White House matters to you. Dress like you deserve respect, not a spot at a bar. And certainly don’t make faces during televised, public events….show a little class “
Oh, but she didn’t stop there. Lauten also criticized the president and first lady with an offensive remark that insinuated that the ‘apple doesn’t fall from the tree’. ” Your mother and father don’t respect their positions very much” – says Lauten.
Lauten served as the communications director for Rep . Stephen Fincher [R.Tenn] but somehow she ‘missed the memo’ on the PEOPLE’s rule of thumb – ‘Children Are Off Limits’. Lauten is not the first person to criticize the president’s daughter’s.
Back in 2012, Brtistol Palin, daughter of Republican Alaska governor, Sarah Palin harshly criticized the Obama girls after President Obama passed the bill supporting GAY marriage? Obama said that his decision came from talks with Michelle and his daughters [both of whom] have friends with same sex parents. Bristol issued a blog post of her disapproval. Here’s a brief excerpt
” So let me get his straight – it’s a problem if my mom listened too much to my dad, but it’s a heroic act if the President made a massive change in a policy position that could affect the entire nation after consulting with his teenage daughter?…. Ideally fathers help shape their kids worldview. In this situation, it was the other way around. I guess we can be glad that Malia and Sasha aren’t younger, or perhaps today’s press conference might have appointing ‘Dora the Explorer’ as Attorney General because of her success stopping ‘Swiper The Fox’ – BristolPalin”
And let’s not forget when Rush Limbaugh famously compared Chelsea Clinton to a dog, and also took criticism with former president, Jimmy Carter’s daughter, Amy Carter – calling her the “most unattractive’ presidential daughter in the history of the country.
Lauten was quickly SLAMMED in the media for her remarks and she swiftly apologized.
If all it took was many hours of prayers, Lauten should have done so before making her insults public. Sounds like she was coerced to write an apology, but who cares at this point.
I read an interesting article over at bloomberg.com and the author talks about the MEDIA flaws in keeping this story in heavy rotation, along with future distrust and unfairness to Republicans, and #blacktwitter. Meanwhile, Lauten parents reportedly has two new cars parked outside of their homes.
