Let The Chips Fall Where They May!

Who’d ever thought that Lil Wayne, the self proclaimed ride or die cash money label frontman aka Birdman Jr. to want out of his contract with the label he’s known and stuck with since his industry entry; let alone go up against the man he calls his father,  Baby “Birdman” Jr.

This week, Lil Wayne issued some tweets of his disgust of the label handlings of his upcoming final solo album ‘The Carter V’ [which was slated for release on Dec.9th] , and he openly admits to being a  ‘prisoner’ of his contract.

I’m sure this does not sit well with the industry.

” To all my fans, I want you to know that my album won;t and hasn’t been released bekuz [label co-founder] Baby and Cash Money Records refuse to release it. This is not my fault. I am truly and deeply sorry to all my fans but most of all to myself and my family for putting us in this situation. “

” I want off this label and nothing to do with these people but unfortunately it ain’t that easy. I am a prisoner and so is my creativity. Again, I am truly sorry and I don’t blame ya if ya fed up with waiting for me and this album.  But thank you. “

Wayne also declared that he will be out of his contract soon at the Vice 20th Anniversary party below. Take a listen below:

Last month Wayne’s label mate, Tyga aired out his  grievances with the label on twitter and demanded to be release. His claims were similar to Wayne’s.  The label’s constant delay on his album release and refusal to let him seek another deal was the last straw, and he threatened to leak his album [for free] as a result.

Of course the news shocked music fans, but it was also an opportunity for recruitment for others . Rapper, Pusha T suggested to Wayne on twitter to head over to Kanye’s GOOD Music label instead.

Cash Money nor a rep of the label has responded to Lil Wayne’s claim as yet.  I’m sure this is unsettling for everyone involved; especially the artists. Drake and Nicki Minaj are signed to Lil Wayne’s Young Money/Cash Money label ban, and they’re also under five album contract deals as well.  How will the chips fall here?  What made Lil Wayne decide to finally speak out publicly about?

In addition, Birdman reportedly re-signed rapper, Juvenile back to the label and is currently spending ‘too much’ time promoting his rising new sensation artist  Young Thug. Could this be reason for Lil Wayne’s album delay.

Prince warned us a few years back,  and he made a quite a stir when he delivered live performances, and walked on numerous red carpets with the word SLAVE written on his face. Critics called it very distracting but there was a message that had to be sent. There are many artists who show less boldness [in fear of being blackballed, and loss of popularity and FAME] , but there are very few who are unafraid to fight against the ‘oppression’ within the industry.

Seems like Wayne’s ready to take the blindfolds off, remove the champagne bottles, and clear the smoke in the industry room.
