Not Shocked, Not Surprised, But Greatly Saddened By This Verdict!
I sat in my living room with my family and awaited the indictment verdict against officer Darren Wilson. I had so many emotions running through my mind all at once. I thought about Brown’s family and what they’re feeling at the moment? , Will Wilson walk freely? The Protestors, and what will happen on the streets of Ferguson if the jury does not indict Wilson? , and then the Prosecution Attorney Robert McCulloch appeared on our television screens and issued a lengthy statement before revealing the decision he, and I had already known in our hearts.
The grand jury [which consisted of six whites and three blacks] has found no probable cause to ‘indict’ Wilson for the death of Michael Brown!
My reaction: SILENCE, PRAYER, and then ANGER! Once again, our justice system FAILS its citizens big time.
The writing was on the wall in this case. Prosecutor, Bob McCulloch was impartial to this verdict from the very beginning, and he should have been removed from his post as suggested earlier.
The verdict sparked community outrage and pain in the hearts of many, and violence erupted on the streets of ferguson along wide nationwide protests [up to present] in several states with the echoed term #handsup #dontshoot.
This week we’ve learned from msnbc news reporter Lawrence O’Donnell that the jurors in Brown’s case were given the ‘wrong law’ which was ruled unconstitutional by the federal Supreme Court in 1985.
Attorney General, Kathi Alizadeh submitted a 1979 statute of law [section 563.046] which states that it is legal to shoot a ‘fleeing suspect’ simply because they are fleeing. However everyone in law enforcement knows that this particular law was banned. This wrongful error was clearly intentionally executed to help Wilson ‘win’ the indictment verdict.
Brown’s attorney Benjamin Crumb, says the fight is not over just yet. The pursuit of federal charges will continue. Anthony Grey points out. ” We’ve heard what was present, but we were not told what was presented” ……... ” The cynisms and sarcasm that was read by McCulloch was all in the presentation.”
Darren Wilson reportedly received over $500,000 thus far in donations including his recent paid interview with ABC. A source of the fundraiser says that number is sure to peak up to one million dollars following Wilson’s recent resignation from the St.louis Police department. The funds reportedly were acquired to cover Wilson’s legal fees and relocation costs for Wilson and his family to move and start anew.
Wilson affirms his innocence in the death of unarmed Michael Brown.
