Jhene Aiko sat down with radio.com to dish on her new album Souled Out’ and musical journey that led her to a signing deal. The def jam speaks candidly about her music, its inspiration, and more.
” She sings, and raps, but she’s more aggressive. She likes to really talk a lot of s–t and talk about things that a lot of the R&B singers don’t talk about “– says Def Jam.

” I feel like when I started on the mixtapes ‘Sail Out’ and completing that, then the ‘EP’ ‘Sailing Souls’ and completing that, it was all working towards releasing the debut album ‘Souled Out’, so for me it feels like the world is turning and I’m ready to do more” – says Aiko. “
On Working With Producers Clam Casino & ThunderCat:
” They sent me tracks and I’ve loved it. It was one of the first batch of tracks that I had gotten after the mixtape, and I usually work with producers from scratch so he was one of the only people that sent me something and I like it. “
On Collaborating With Gambino:
” Me and Bino worked we work so well together because we both have creative minds and they compliment each other. We think of things differently, even our whole thought process, but when it comes to working together it works. “
