Mary J. Blige Debuts New Single ” Whole Damn Year ” Talks New Album, & More!

Mary J. Blige debuts her new single entitled “Whole Damn Near “  this week and we’ve deemed it PLUM certified. The single was co-penned by U.K songstress [my fav] Emeli Sande and produced by Disclosure.

The singer is gearing up to release her album ‘London Sessions’. In the record Mary sings:

” I’m A Mess, Underneath,…..Summer Came Looking For Love, And By Autumn I Was Left With Nothing, It Took A Whole Damn Year To Repair My Body, Took A WholeDamn Year It’s Been A Bad Five Years”

On The Song Whole Damn Year:

” The song is about that woman at work everyday, smiling all the time but she she’s going through it.  Everybody thinks she’s  good but she’s not , but she’s in recovery and repairing herself and her body. “

On The New Album ‘The London Sessions’:

” London was the inspiration is because of the record we did with expit exploded in London and when we did terminal 5 the response was ridiculous and it started responding well over her [U.S] . ”

” The idea was to do an ‘EP’ with full disclosure and I just signed with a new label and we met with Steve Barnett who is the head of Capital Records and he said forget the EP, let’s do an album and here we are. “

Mary J. Blige says she spent the entire summer overseas, and worked with new and upcoming producers for the new album.

On Her New Direction Of Music:

” I’ve stepped out with Bono, Sting, & Elton John so I’ve been out but everyone is still trying to box me in.  Just to grow, I needed that experience. “

On Her Fans Reaction:

” I won’t say everybody Alot of people who would have rather that I stayed messed up and sad because that’s where they were. But when your grow your going to lose some people “
