Actress Legend Ruby Dee Passes Away At 91

Today our world mourns the loss of another great spirit.  Actress and civil rights activist, Ruby Dee has died at age 91.

According to the reports  Dee’s daughter, Nora Davis Day confirmed the news to the Associated Press yesterday [Thursday June 11th].  Dee passed away at her home in New Rochelle on Wednesday night [June 10th].

The legendary actress was famously known for her movie roles and starring alongside her husband of 56 years, Ossie Davis.  In 2005, her husband, Ossie Davis passed away.

Dee is best known for her co-starring role in the film ‘A Raisin In The Sun’  Spike Lee’s Do The Right Thing’ and the box office hit movie ‘American Gangster’ starring Denzel Washington.

Dee has been awarded with a Grammy, Emmy, Screen Actors Guild  & Lifetime Achievement Award. Dee was also named as the recipient of the National Media Arts and the Kennedy Center Honors among many more.
