Mary Mary returns with a new season and a whole lot of drama. Erica [in middle] embarks on a solo music career, Tina [on left] undergoes marital troubles and learns that her husband ‘cheated on her” with a close friend.
On the new season, the sisters also deal with the passing of their father who had succumb to cancer last year. Erica tells Wendy Williams ” Life is happening….Everything that humans face in life we’ve had to face in front of the whole world. “
So let’s get into it.
Tina on deciding to take a break from the duo group:
” I needed a break. It has been thirteen years non-stop, I’m pregnant every other year, I just go, go, go go, . I love this, I live for this, I would do this if there was never a check, never a grammy or anything, but I’m burnt out on it which means that its time to stop, recover, rest enjoy some other elements of life and come back. So while I was away she [Erica] never stop. “
Erica On Going Solo:
” My husband is the producer of Mary Mary and we’ve been writing songs and producing music since record number one, so he’s been with us for the entire ride. So he’s felt me wanting me to do a little more and never wanting me to push my sister and sometimes I did and sometimes she didn’t like it. You can’t force people to do what they don’t want to do and she’s entitled to take a break.”
” I love that this solo journey includes her being my cheerleader. She helped me write my first song ” My Lord Jesus” which got nominated for a GRAMMY and because I have her cheering me on it’s even better”
Tina On Going Through Public Infidelity:
” Well people, LIFE got real. And I revealed it. I don’t like being hostage to my own secrets and all that. I watch people live in SHAME and EMBARRASSMENT and I figured I’m going to do shame for a little bit and embarrassment for a little bit and then I’mma get over it because LIFE goes on. ”
” We’re working through it, and I must say you should really watch this season because life happened. and if I had known what this season would have consisted of before I started I would have opted out of it…. Unfortunately, we’re executive producers on our show so we watch our edits and we have to clear alot of the things, and it was hard for me to do it. ”
Erica On The Church Stans Claiming She’s Too Sexy:
” They said I was being too sexy because of my hips and boobs, they told me that I was in the “Illuminati” because of my hands. It’s praying hands to me. I think the first comment was “C’mon now your just doing too much“ and I’m like its a turtle neck. “
” I have three children, I have high blood pressure, I work out and I want to make sure that I’m healthy,.. and the curves that ‘GOD‘ gave me seems to show when I have clothes on. I try to mindful because I never try to sell my ‘SEXY’ but I’m comfortable with it, and I think more ‘CHRISTIANS‘ should understand that its not a bad thing. We should take ownership of who we are and be okay. “
” I’m okay with a young girl not just singing R&B DIVA, or d–k fixing – looking sexy , but if they see a gospel singer, and its tasteful, and I’m happily married with children why isn’t that okay? “
