Lord Jamar of the famous 90’s rap group “Brand Nubian” recently spoke out on the state of hip hop and its recent transformation in both it’s messages and brand. Jamar talked with VladTV where he stated that Hip Hop and Rap are two separate entities in today’s music world. Jamar expressed his distaste for the current music trend and feels as though there ‘s a hidden agenda to erase the origin of the hip hop culture [which started with the black man] j and he draw a ‘simile’ with the war between the Greek & Egyptian Gods. Jamar also feels as though white rapper Mackelomore is pushing the “Gay Agenda” with his chart topping single “Same Love”

Take a read at his excerpts below:

Hip Hop is that real shit, that Golden Era, that way of life, the message. With Rap that’s about getting money, putting words together that rhyme, so yeah I say rap is Gay friendly and its rich people friendly. It speaks for the “HAVES” where are hip hop speaks for the “HAVE NOTS” So within the money culture when you start dealing in certain circles; there’s ALOT of people that happen to be ‘homosexual‘. People in the fashion industry and all of that….  So when your start to rub elbows with those people you want to make them feel comfortable and so maybe now your make yourself  [pause] try to tone yourself down. And maybe you’ll go so far over the edge, that now your totally on another side that you don’t realize or you didn’t want to be on in attempts to make someone feel comfortable.  Or maybe this is what you always wanted to do.  I don’t know but I said it before and I’ll say it again.  This ain’t no Hip Hop sh*t!

On Rapper ‘Mackelmore’

I acknowledge his rap and skill…. I know I’m going to get into ALOT of trouble but I don’t give a F*CK.

White rappers your coming in to the house of hip hop as a GUEST…. Those of u that study the culture and truly love hip hop – keep it real with yourselves – you know this is a black man’s things. We started this – this is our shit. Those of you that have skills and all of that. We’ve allowed you to come in and kick your shit, make yourself known and if you have enough respect for the culture we f*ck with you. You see making a song like that is like feeling that you have the same footing as any other hip hop artist and to me you don’t.”

“You see I cannot go in somebody’s house and even though they let me wear their clothes, and eat their food – that’s not my house. That’s their house and I can’t get so comfortable in their house to where I feel like I can talk ‘house politics‘.”

“If you go to another country – you can live there for 5 years on a VISA but you can’t VOTE. Why can’t you vote?  Because they’re affairs is there affairs and even though you live there your really not part of that country. So, to me people like Mackelomorecome out with songs like that…. I know he loves hip hop but he’s trying to ‘push an agenda‘ that him as a white man feels is acceptable. But those ‘proclivities‘ and ‘sensibilities‘ are not at the core of true hip hop. So don’t come in my house talking that bullshit. But now that you have a light on you.”

” You see I a liken this to the Egyptians and the Greeks that stole the Egyptian gods; and to this days you only know you only know about the Greek Gods. But, every Greek God there is has a counterpart because they stole it from the original. But then when you keep getting these Greek Gods thrown at you, totally forgot about the Egyptian ‘Kemetic‘ Gods. ”

Lord Jamar went on to draw comparisons with white rapper, Action Bronson [who attributes his rap style to Ghostface Killa of the Wu Tang Clan rap group].

” The way black music is turning, Alot of your top artist is white. Justin Timberlake, Justin Beiber, your girl Iggy Azalea [she’s going to blow up]. “
