Actress, Kerry Washington stunned fans earlier this summer when news hit web that she had secretly wed to NFL star, Nnamdi Asoumugha. No one knew that the two were secretly dating for close to two years much less “jumping the broom”. As word spread, Kerry remained tight-lipped and when asked during interviews while promoting her summer film, and “Peeples” Kerry was adamant about keeping her life private and opted not to discuss it. Well, in her latest interview with Glamour magazine September issue, the Scandal star [who serves on the cover] dished little on why she’s vowed to keep her personal life private despite the positive public feedback from fans.
According Kerry Washington, repeating the same mistakes is not in her rule book:
“I learned through experience that it doesn’t work for me to talk about my personal life. I’ve had earlier times in my career when I did talk about it. I was on the cover of a bridal magazine – Instyle Magazine in 2005 [referring to prior engagement to actor David Moscow who she dated from 2004-2007]….but I couldn’t just turn around and say: I only want to talk about the good stuff, but not the bad stuff, So I just thought, ok – no more.”
On How She Planned A Secret Wedding Without The Media Catching Wind Of It All:
“Laughs. I don’t want to sound smug about it but the point is do what’s best for me. I have girlfriends in this business who talk about their personal lives, and it works for them, and I love it. But not for me.”
“…..I’m walking around in the world with my ring. And when people say congratulations, I say thank you. But I’m going to not talk about it and just let it unfold.”
