Many of you may remember the former bad boy rapper who went to jail for ten years after defending “Diddy” during a night club brawl in NYC. Well, it’s been three years since Shyne’s release from prison and Shyne is gearing up to release his long awaited third album next year with Def Jam. The rapper recently released a new mixtape called “Gangland” where he talks about his issues with the hypocrisies behind some of the hip hop music we hear today and how Diddy, Rick Ross, and others perpetuate a negative reality of the rich life [ganglife, the drugs, liquor and so forth] to the youth.
Rapper Shyne called into the Hot 97 Morning show with [Cypha Sounds, K.Fox, and Peter Rosenberg] earlier this week to talk about his current beef with rapper Rick Ross, and ‘Diddy’. In addition, Shyne talks about his “voice change” admitting that he’s a different man than the barontone deep voice rapper that fans were used to since his release from jail.
“When I came out of prison, it wasn’t about being no rapper, it was about being free…. I was adjusting the It was about being free. I was adjusting emotionally and mentally about being free. I was in the jungle for ten years. I wasn’t exercising my vocal chords, trying to learn have Swag and all that… So when I cam out an I went to the studio, I didn’t even realize I lost my voice; I sound dead. If you listen to that Gangland album right now you can feel Shyne Po. “
Shyne also addresses his Jewish decent as many people believed that Shyne converted to to Judaism while in prison. Shyne schooled Peter Rosenberg stating that he’s in fact Jewish by blood as his mother and father are real Jews.
” My mother and father are Jewish. I am a Levi [Levi Jew] Europeans have this ideology that think that only white people are Jews. Because they ain’t never seen an African Jew. There’s many black Jews out here. There’s Ethiopian Jews, There’s Israel Jews, Syrian Jews, Yemenite Jews. I know many Jews that don’t want to any part of the religion but for me being Jewish is just a fact.”
Before his closing remarks Shyne offered some very important advise to the youth:
“I don’t want to be “Selfish” Let all these young kids thats listening to me right now, take me as an example of what will happen when you squeezing them ratchets’s, and you dope dealing and you playing that street game. You might end up spending the rest of your life in prison , you might end being taking away from your family, and you might end of trying to rebuild your life for the rest of your life. So Don’ t Be Like Me Ain’t Nothing Funny About That Life! “
