Missy And Timbaland Talk Aaliyah/Drake Collaboration On Power 105.1 Breakfast Club

Amid, all the rumors surrounding Aaliyah’s pothumous album, we finally get to hear what Aaliyah’s former friends/prodcuers, Missy Elliot And Timbaland had to say in the matter. As you may know already Drake and 40 Seih has been deemed producers of  Aaliyah ucoming aljbum [ which is suppose to be a track list of unrelease tracks coupled  with some featured artist Drake, and others] Despite Aaliyah immediate family [mother, father, and brother Rashad] Aaliyah’s uncle Barry Hankerson [who managed the label-Blackground Records which Aaliyah was under ] is part of the new Aaliyah project as well.

Well, Missy and Timbaland have been making their  radio/interview rounds around tri-state area in promotion of Missy new released music  “9th Inning” and ” Tripple Threat” , and during their stop at Power 105.1 breakfast club morning show they also weighed in on the Aaliyah/Drake drama and why their not participating in the upcoming Aaliyah posthumous album [which is slated to drop in 2013]

Timbaland on Drake doing an Aaliyah album

“Is it really real, there saying its an album,… I don’t know if its a real topic. We hear it then we don’t hear it. I think its just fabricated. I think people are blowing it out of proportion…I don’t think it’s all of that… Something maybe occurred but it might of been pulled back.. but I think people are making it more than what it is.”

Missy’s response

“Nobody has reached out to me. It’s not even about nobody reaching out  to me I personally want to respect her family. If her mother, or brother, or father have come to me and said were want to do an Aaliyah album .. Cause I alwats say as fans we are also fans too and we would want to hear Aaliyah but there has to be a respect given and showing. Cause for us we can still go on about our lives  and yeah we still mourn but no like her family, they know Aaliyah before she Aaliyah to the worddthe world as Aaliyah. so until they come an say Missy and Tim we are ready to do an album then we feel we shoud pull back from that.”

Timbaland did note after that he received a call from Noah “40″ Shebib [yesterday] stating that their intention [him and Drake] were to record one record and somehow the media ran with an  Aaliyah  posthumous album.  Interesting!

So if there’s is no upcoming Aaliyah album then why did Aaliyah’s uncle [Barry Hankerson] released the following statement weeks prior when asked about an Aaliyah album:

“We really felt like it was time. There’s a real new generation that doesn’t know her necessarily, and we wanted to continue her musical legacy with this new generation. That’s one of the reasons why we wanted to do very contemporary music,” said Hankerson. “We didn’t want to make it a nostalgic project; we already did that with the ‘I Care 4 U’ album. The idea was to release new music for her diehard fans, and also reintroduce her music to a new generation that doesn’t really understand how much influence she has in the music that they’re listening to today.”

Followed by a recent tweet with pic and caption of the following

Aaliyah posthumous 2013 16 unreleased tracks produced by @Drake @OVO40 Enough said’ #TeamAaliyah RT.”

Something is definitely fishy about this story. Either  Barry is forming his own agenda while trying to include  outside producers [Drake, Noah 40 Shebib]  other than Missy and Timbaland given their relationship and respect for  Aaliyah’s immediate family [who has yet to agree with the project].

Will be watching this story closely. Stay tuned folks.
