Screw waiting for a bill, the government is cracking down on sites that are reportedly violating the Piracy Act and MegaUpload.com is priority number one.
Yesterday, Thursday Jan 19. MegaUpload.com, one of the largest file sharing websites has been indicted for copyright infringement, racketeering conspiracy, generating 75 million dollars in sales, and costing copyright holders at least $500 million in lost revenue.
So why is Swiss Beatz involved?
The Justice Department said in a statement said that Kim Schmitz aka Kim Dotcom, 37, and three other employees were arrested Thursday in New Zealand at the request of U.S. officials. However, it is unclear whether the FBI will charge Alicia Keys’ husband Kasseem Dean a.k.a. Swizz Beatz, who was outed as MegaUpload’s new CEO by the New York Post yesterday.
Swizz Beatz, recently put out Megaupload latest commerical featuring other artist like Ciara, Will.I Am, Kanye, Floyd Mayweather, Jamie Fox, Serena, Kim K, The Game, Macy Gray, and others.

The FBI has said in a press release that it and other law enforcement agencies have executed 20 search warrants in eight countries, seizing $50 million in assets and taking down MegaUpload’s servers.
Is this a fear tactic to influence Congress to pass a bill or does the federal government have reasonable cause to shut down Megaload. Its interesting how this indictment came just one day after the SOPA strike which was the largest protest ever. Some are now calling this a malicious act!!
