Federal authorities arrested seventy-people in the New York area accused of downloading child pornography. Some of the suspects included a rabbi, a boy scout leader who is also den master, a police chief, police officers, FDNY paramedics, a little league coach all of whom were arrested for their participation in the “porn ring”.
According to the reports, the suspects used computers to swap pornographic images of children. Hundreds of computer’s and other pieces of electronic equipment have also been seized. The Homeland Security had been running the investigation entitled “Caireen” for over one month now. They told reporters:
” The sheer volume of confirmed and suspected instances of individuals engaging in the sexual exploitation of children identified through ‘Operation Caireen’ is shocking and the professional backgrounds of many of the defendants is troubling. “
Some of the defendants have young children and families of their own and some of them had allegedly made sexual explicit films using their relatives.
” Over 150 distinct IP addresses were found actively involve in trading those kinds of images. Detectives search files using names like ‘real child rape’ and or ‘PTHC’ which stands for pre-teen hard core. “
Defendants are looking to face up to 10-15 years of imprisonment if convicted.
The Gothamist reports:
” NJ resident Loris Bauer is accused of making child pornography with her own son under the advisement of Albert Randazzo, an NYPD police sergeant who was charged with child porn last year. Randazzo is a level 2 registered sex offender and is currently out on bail. Court papers allege he indicated the last video he has downloaded and viewed depicted a mother sexually abusing her 3 or 4 year old child. “
” Another arrestee, Eduardo SalcedoUrzola of Brooklyn had been working as an au pair. [ Au pairs take on responsibilities involving both children and housework for a host family] ”
” Another Rabbi Samuel Waldman was accused of distributing videos of young girls raped by adult men; he admitted to possessing the videos, but denied that he was sharing them, insisting, “It’s absolutely being misconstrued completely, 100% and we will fight that to the end. “

” It must be remembered that the images involved in the cases are of real children being sexually abused and that each time and image i viewed, traded, printed or downloaded, the child in that image is being victimized again. Manhattan D.a. Cy Vance said ” The perpetrators collect and trade this media as one might trade or collect baseball cards. “
