Did Forbes magazine get it right or wrong?
Forbes Magazine rubbed many people the wrong way when they issued out an article regarding Australian rapper, Iggy Azalea along with the headline title “Hip Hop Is Run By A White Blonde Australian Woman”
Azalea debut her first award show appearance on the 2014 Billboard awards on Sunday [May 19th] following her release of her first solo album debut “The New Classic “ . Iggy currently has two songs [‘Fancy’ ft . Charli XCX and Problem ft. Ariana Grande] topping the Billboard Hot 100 charts but that has not granted her the title of the throne in hip hop.
In the article, Forbes also draws comparison with Iggy and Nicki Minaj. According to Forbes, Nicki has been off the radar for several months and since she [Nicki] has decided to return to her rap roots and disregard making pop singles [that brought her a broader audience], Iggy is the perfect artist to step into that lane.
While Iggy has been making alot of noise with her U.S. hit ‘Fancy’ Forbes also points out that she currently has four top singles on top 20 charts in U.K. and huge fan base abroad therefore declaring her a top contender in the hip hop industry.
Is Iggy The Next Big Thing In Hip Hop?
In related news, Iggy is still going strong with her NBA baller beau, Nick Young. The two were spotted on the red carpet at the 2014 Billboard Awards and they shared a little PDA prior to Iggy hitting the stage.
