Shonda Rhimes is bringing yet another new show to ABC and no its not a ‘Scandal’ remake. The new show is entitled “Blackish” and it brings a new spin on middle-class black families in America.
The youtube trailer video drew opposing views about the title and message of the show. While some are excited for another Cosby remake, others are unhappy by the title and some of the mockery that will be displayed on the show.
In one episode, Anderson’s son ask his father to throw him a ‘bro-mitzfah’ [in an attempt to receive gifts]; similar to the popular ‘bar-mitzfah’s’ that are conducted in the Jewish culture. His son also decides to alter his first name to ‘Andy’ instead to be more accepting to his peers at school.
” The new comedy show is said to to be the new ‘Cosby show’ for the post-racial generation. Anthony Anderson plays an upper-middle class black man who tries to raise his children [who are color blind] with some sense of black cultural identity, through his biracial wife actress, Traci Ellis Ross. Lawrence Fishburne plays ‘grand-dad’ who appears to be the ‘man of reason’ when conflict in the family arises. “
