Beyonce exposes the ugly truth about the entertainment industry and addresses the issue of bulimia, insecurities, the pressures to be skinny, and the false idea of the perception of beauty in her new video single “Pretty Hurts”
In the video, Beyonce gives us a look inside the life a woman [played by Yonce] who is a beauty pageant contestant who succumbs to the pressures of society. In order to gain public recognition, she’s starves herself in attempts maintain her skinny frame, while another model [in the vid] is seen eating cotton-ball swabs as a meal alternative.
In another scene Bey sings in front of a plethora of trophies and begins to SMASH each trophy as if she wants to break -free of the WORLD’s view and standards of BEAUTY.
The message in the video is CLEAR – Pretty Hurts!
Bey gets 2 PLUM’s Up in my book for this one. Our societal values have fallen so far from GRACE. We’ve seen both men and women of every race fall victim to this disease. Athletes taking STEROIDS to perform at an advance level, the growing trend of PLASTIC SURGERY, [fake butts, tits, liposuction, bo-tox, etc] just to meet the industry standards, and the age requirements for eligibility are decreasing by the minute.
It’s a terrible DISEASE in the industry that must come to an END. Beyonce is set to launch a new campaign entitled “Pretty Hurts” , hopefully her influential power will shape the mindsets of our young girls.
