Kelly Rowland’s father, Christopher Lovett, 67 is making a public plea to re-unite with his famous daughter. This is Lovett’s second attempt. The first time he attempted was two years ago at a concert where Kelly had performed. Lovett said he weaped tears of joy as he watched from the cheap seats area. As the concert concluded, Lovett asked a security guard to pass a note to Kelly but the message never got through because the guard did not believe Lovett was telling the truth.
Fast forward to present day, Lovett is making yet another attempt to to re-unite with his daughter and this time to he’s decided to make his plea public for all to witness. It’s no secret that Lovett and Kelly were estranged from one another since Kelly was a child. As Kelly explains, her mother was the rock that held the two together while Lovette suffered from alcohol addiction and verbally abused her mother which resulted in them getting evicted from their home. Kelly [at age 7] and her mother were on their own and the two were forced to fend for themselves.
Lovette recently spoke to Radaronline and said the following:
” So many previous years have passed and I’m getting old. I just pray she comes back into my life before it’s too late… I couldn’t control the drinking and verbal abuse that Kelly witnessed. I hoped I could make it up to her. But I’m still waiting for that day. “
He continued:
” It wasn’t physical between me and Kelly’s mom, but there were many days and nights when Kelly would be bawling her eyes out, clutching my leg begging me, ‘Please daddy, stop shouting at mummy.’ That image of her howling, begging me to stop will haunt me forever.”
Back in 2011 Kelly was to reunite with her father during the Christmas holiday, but somehow the meet-up never occurred.
While its often inappropriate to speak of one’s family situation, we cannot ignore the underlying issue at hand. This particularly story speaks volumes to the children of the ghettos with absentee father’s across the globe. We constantly see and hear similar stories of the family demise, and often times when that child [who was abandoned] becomes rich and famous, the absentee parent resurfaces. So the question is not whether Lovette deserves a second chance but whether his intentions is of moral obligation -as he claims!
Best of luck to Kelly Rowland! Stay tuned PLUM’s!
