A civil suit settlement has been reached in the wrongful death suit of Breonna Taylor and the city of Louisville early this afternoon (Sept. 15th). The 26-year old EMT, who was saving the lives of others was murdered by police officers who executed an illegal ‘no knock’ entry of her apartment in an alleged narcotics raid.
Louisville, Kentucky – Mayor Greg Fischer says the reportedly 12 million dollar recompense is for the Taylor family and will also require the city to issue police reform incentives, mandatory drug testings for officers and community initiatives. However, the settlement agreement is not an ‘admission’ of guilt or wrongdoing of this case says Fischer.
CNN reports states that “As part of the settlement, the city agreed to establish a housing credit program as an incentive for officers to live in the areas they serve; use social workers to provide support on certain police runs; and require commanders to review and approve search warrants before seeking judicial approval, among other changes ” .
The city of Louisville settled #BreonnaTaylor’s wrongful death lawsuit! So the taxpayers have paid for her murder, but the cops haven’t? #ThisIsAmerica #TeamDl

Civil Case Vs. Criminal Case
None of the officers involved in the case have been arrested or charged in the death of Breonna Taylor as yet . Detective Brett Hankison, who fired 10 rounds blindly into the apartment was fired back in June. The city also passed the ‘Breonna’s Law’ which bans ‘no knock’ search warrants .
A wrongful death settlement is not justice.

It is the very least Louisville could do in response to the gross negligence and disregard for life that its officers demonstrated in killing #BreonnaTaylor.
I continue to pray for Breonna’s family, who I know would rather have her.
A criminal case happens when the government files a case in court to punish someone (the defendant) for committing a crime. A civil case happens when one person, business, or agency sues another one because of a dispute between them, usually involving money.
Breonna’s leading attorney Benjamin Crump is a civil case attorney who specializes in catastrophic personal injuries. Co-attorney, Sam Aguiar is the owner of a personal injury firm and specializes in personal injury cases in Kentucky, Tennesse, and Indiana.
Until freedom, our fight for JUSTICE continues plums.
