So Long Gladiators!
Actor, Columbus Short personal life drama has caused the 31-year-old his pivotal and profitable role on ABC’s number one rated Scandal show. Earlier this month the actor’s wife [whom he’s currently divorcing], Tanee McCall filed a restraining order against Short following a domestic dispute on April 7th which McCall says resulted in Short choking her while accusing her of sleeping with other men.
The Daily News report that:
” Short’s most recent arrest followed a spate of other ugly incidents. In February he was arrested and accused of attacking his wife in front of their children, and again two weeks later for pushing her in a separate incident. Short was also busted a month later for allegedly punching a guest at an engagement party. “
McCall has since petitioned for a divorce and custody for the couple’s two-year old daughter. Clearly, the news did not sit well with the public nor the producers of the show and Short was handed the pink-slip an asked not to speak about the matter during ABC’s finale party last week. Today, Short announced his exit from the show saying:
” At this time I must confirm my exit from a show I’ve called home for three years, with what is the most talented ensemble on television today. I would like to first thank Shonda Rhimes for the opportunity to work with such an amazing cast.
Thank you Gladiators, who have supported me throughout my entire career and of course to ABC and Shondaland for allowing me to play such a pivotal role in the Scandal series. Everything must come to an end and unfortunately the time has come for [my character] Harrison Wright to exit the canvas. “
We all know that the MEDIA can be cruel and bias at times especially in the case of domestic abuse, it’s sad to hear such news. Short seemed to be peaking at the height of his career with this role and its a shame that’s it’s come to an end like this. Wishing everyone the best.
