Blasphemy vs. Entertainment
Kanye West stirs controversy YET again and everyone is talking about it. Kanye took center stage at his sold out concert in Seattle Washington to perform his hit single “Jesus Walk With Me” and low and behold a white ‘Jesus’ descended upon the crowd . The ‘Jesus’ actor spoke to Kanye and said: ” I did not come here to make bad people feel good. I’m came here to make dead people ALIVE. To show people the light. That’s all I need from you. To show people the light of TRUTH and BEAUTY. ”
Kanye then performed Jesus Walk With Me and the crowd erupted. However, not everyone was pleased. In the video, you can hear the sentiments of a few concert-goers who were ANGERED by Kanye’s mockery. One shouted: “JESUS IS BLACK!” Another shouted: “You’ve GONE TOO FAR!”
Now Kanye has repeatedly declared himself a creative ‘GENIUS’ and a ‘GOD‘ [as we’ve seen on his controversial ‘YEEZUS‘ album cover] so while his latest stunt continue to SHOCK and DISPLEASE many, Kanye continues to follow his inner consciousness.
As one commentator [@starpremacy] said:
” Black, white, orange is pointless. … how can you say someone to be all mighty but limit that person to a color? “
So what was/is the message that Kanye is trying to convey in his recent performance? Is Kanye stirring up yet another religious debate!
In his recent BBC interview, Kanye explained:
“When someone comes up and says something like “I Am God” everybody says: Who does he think he is? I just told you who I thought I was, A God-says Kanye. Would it have been better if I said, I am N—-A or if I had a song that said I’m a gangster, or if I had a song that said I am PIMP? All those colors and patinas fit better on a person like me right? But to say you are a GOD, especially when you got shipped over to the country that you’re in and your last name is a slave owner’s, how could you say that? How could you have that mentality? “
