Sources close to hip-hop legend have confirmed that funeral arrangements for Heavy-D, born Dwight Myers are scheduled for Friday November 18th.
The funeral is said to be private and with family and close friends alone. However MTV News has recently learned that their will be a public viewing held this thursday Nov.17th for Heavy-d fans.
Heavy D died Tuesday after collapsing near his Beverly Hills condominium. Although it’s been reported that he had pneumonia-like symptoms shortly before his death, the Los Angeles coroner has not announced an official cause of death.
Confirmed celebrity attendees are heavy-D group members Eddie F and dance partner G-whiz, Mary J. Blige, Diddy, Queen Latifah, Boy-z to Men, The Wayans brothers all of whom are close friends and have worked Heavy-D during and or throughout their entertainment career.
The funeral will be held in Heavy-D native home, New York City however the location of the funeral service have not been announced.
Heavy-D music was truly one of a kind. Unlike most rap songs today, Heavy style of music and rap delivery was always positive. Heavy-D made feel good music that did not require profanity, thuggish persona, nor the exploitation of women. As Eddie F put it “You mother and grandmother could listen to Heavy-D.
Heavy-D was true to himself and his music, and he will be missed dearly.
