Actress, Lupita Nyongo turned many heads this weekend as she hit the red carpet at this weekend for Critics Choice Awards and the Screen Actors Guild [SAG] Awards in Santa Monica, California. Lupita nabbed two awards for “best supporting actress”.
Dressed in a Calvin Klein gown, Lupita was brought to tears as she delivered an emotional speech of her journey thus far.
” I’m so honored to be here and I want to thank the B for this incredible honor. This has been an incredible year of excellent performances and in my category I feel so honored to be be amongst the likes of Scarlett Johansson, June Smith, Jennifer Lawrence, Julia Roberts. “
” Being a part of 12 years of Slave has been one of the most profound experiences of my life, And I could not be standing here if it wasn’t for Solomon Northup, his love and passion for freedom. “
“And of course the incredible Steve McQueen [director of 12 Years Of Slave] . Your Passion, Your dedication, and Your Smile, inspired me everyday on set and it continues to do so now. “
Lupita went on to thank her Uncle who always supported her “acting career” but did not live to see her walk across the stage to accepting an award.
The 30-year-old Kenyan beauty won her second “best supporting actress” award at the SAG Awards. Dressed beautifullyin a turquoise “Gucci” gown Lupita said:
“Being honored by another fellow actor is an honor of the highest order. “
