The Revolution Is Now Televised!

Diddy [aka Sean Combs] launched his newly cable network show REVOLT; a joint partnership with Time Warner yesterday Oct. 21.  Just hours prior Diddy appeared on New York’s ‘Breakfast Club‘ show to dish about his fascinating ‘dream come true’  channel which he says will change the landscape and culture of current television and will also allow people of great talent [rising and current] to bring their best and creative “excellence” to a wider audience.

Take a read at few excerpts from his

Why He Chose To Enter The TV Network Arena:

I really went the brand route. I put a bet on music and a bet on technology. When I started seeing the festivals go from one weekend to two weekends. And, the way music is consumed at an all time high right now. In the five years television will be EVERYWHERE on your mobile devices – it will be worldwide so that was the opportunity that I saw. There was no ESPN of Music, no CNN of Music, there was no one trusted destination … “

On What Revolt Means To His Success:

” Today is day of history. It wasn’t less than two hundred years that we were SLAVES. I was affected by that movie [12 years a Slave…… I started out as an intern, I started out getting coffee, cleaning bathrooms, sneaking on the train from Howard University. So this is a really dream come true for me. “

On Why Current Music Networks [ie: MTV BET, VH1]  Don’t Play or Desire To Play Certain  Genre’s /Artist Music:

” They changed their business plan. Sometimes you have to stay focused one thing great and do one thing great and for us that’s music. Having enough fearlessness to play what normally doesn’t get played.”

” Were going to multi genre in Hip Hop….  Alternative, all of that. Travis Scott, A$AP Rocky -people discovered them on youtube . Were going to be a platform for new inspiring artist to grow but were raising the bar from a ‘performance level‘ and from a video level to make sure that we have a bar of excellence that you have to achieve in order to be played on ‘REVOLT‘.”

On Revolt’s Mission:

” Our focus for the first six to twelve months is to do one thing great and be the number one destination for people to get music. We’re live and at real time.  We want to specialize in morning programs. It’s so much and I can’t give away but we want have a debate-type show, like a panel discussion show  on different issues that we have in the hip hop community[ similar to how we have in the barbershops] “

On Ensuring The Success Of Revolt:

” We’re going to be learning and I want feedback….Our entire staff is young, so we have new rules This is most fearless generation of our time. And we want to embrace that movement. We’re not just a digital network. We have the same reach and deals likes HBO, HPN and we will be at the same level as ABC. This is our time right now. “

On What He Learned from Oprah’s Network:

” One of things I learned is that I have to be in the office early. I hired the best of the best. But I feel like I didn’t want them to bring their old ways. I wanted thew to bring their infrastructure but bring a new way of thinking.  Make sure people understand that this is not the Diddy network. I will not be all over the network. “

On New York City Losing It’s Crown In Hip Hop music:

” Without a doubt. Our competitive nature and also alot of the music lost its soul. The track ain’t hot. The New York style of producing music changed. Alot of people abandoned it and the whole turn up movement started and producers started to confirm. And any conformity of any music in any art form is the DEATH of it. I feel New York is still the home of HIP HOP but I think we lost our CHAMPIONSHIP we lost our DYNASTY and that’s just real talk. THe other regions – [Atlanta, Mid West, West coast] they put they soul in it. “

REVOLT is here and in full effect. So be sure to tune in because the Revolution is now televised.
