This year Billboard will be honoring a special tribute to pop artist Pink at the Billboard Women in Music Awards this year. Pink has been named Billboard’s ‘Woman Of The Year’ for her outstanding music and contribution to the music industry. Pink is the fourth woman to hold this this title following Katy Perry, Beyonce, and Taylor Swift. According to Billboard’s Editorial director, Bill Werde, Pink was the rightful choice.
“When our 2013 mid-year numbers were released, she had the top selling album and song for a woman, a block buster, sold out, international arena tour. Earlier this year. ‘Just Give Me A Reason‘, topped the Billboard Hot 100, extending her amazingly consistent chart success which dates back to her arrival in 2000.”
“Combine all of this with a spirit that inspires fans of every stripe, and you arrive at the remarkable, package that is Pink. She will undoubtedly continue to accomplish great milestones in the years to come.”
Pink was shocked by the news. The singer says:
“I was shocked and surprised to hear that Billboard named me “Woman of the Year”. It’s been an incredible year and I feel so grateful to radio for sticking by me, and to the fans and friends and all of the incredible talent that I was fortunate enough to work with for this album.”
Pink has put out great music since her first debut album “Pink”. Now six albums in and a plethora of hit songs, Pink surely deserves this honorary award.
