Let The Church Say Amen!
It was a day of criticism for film director.actor Tyler Perry and Bishop T.D Jakes [a well known respected Christian with MANY followers]. A you tube video surfaced showing Perry [who paid a visit to Jakes church as part of the Megafest event in Dallas Tx, this past Sunday, September 1] hitting the podium to ‘testify” about his anointing of God, and how it came to pass that he would be giving the church one million dollars towards the establishment of Jakes youth center. As Perry discussed his experience of being a ‘giver‘ [having donated to many organizations and charities] he found himself “speaking in tongues” and later anointing Bishop T.D Jakes with his hands and the blood of Jesus.
Once the video went viral, there was a slew of comments from all atmospheres. Some people called the act a hoax, others called it a mockery of the bible and God’s word and some simple felt Perry was reaching too far.
According to Perry:
“Sometimes you spend to much time worrying about your HATERS, you spend so much time bout people talking about you, but what you need to understand is that the bible says, In order for you to be blessed, your haters have to be present. How do I know that? The book of Psalms said ‘He prepareth a table before me in the presence of mine enemies [referring to Psalms 23] So in order for me to eat, they have to be present.”
Well, the haters were not buying was Perry’s testimony.
Clearly, you can gather how folks felt about Bishop T.D Jakes catching the “Holy Ghost” following Perry’s anointing. Was this real or fake continues to be the question of the day? But Jakes or Perry seems to be un-bothered by it all. Here’s the video for all inquiring minds.
