B.A.R.S Matter
In 1985 it was Queens Bridge vs. South Bronx; two of hip hop’s biggest crews that sprung hip hop’s first legendary rap battle over the birthplace of Hip hop.
KRS One boogie down productions release of ‘South Bronx’ reign victory over MC Shan’s ‘The Bridge’ , and became the tipping point that launched KRS One’s hip hop career; which KRS One later admits.
” Answer records were big then…. Rap Battles brought both crews into the limelight and showed off their lyrical wordplay in a variety of settings.
They set the benchmark for hip hop battles and showed how to keep it strictly lyrical, an issue that would later come into threat… ” [Sabogetimes]
Since my entire time line is out of control at the moment, I thought I chime in my two cents on the verbal ‘SHETHER’ that Remy Ma has released to her rap nemesis, Nicki Minaj causing mayhem on the internet streets.
For Remy, the tension between her and Nicki was a ‘boil’ that finally reached its ‘head’ and she was ready to burst it. It was long rumored that the two female rappers were at odds following Remy Ma’s release from prison in 2014 but it was fairly quiet until now.
In a recent interview with Power 105′.1 Breakfast Club show, Remy Ma was asked about the rumored feud, and simply affirm that she feels she is the best rapper alive as should any other rapper. Remy also declared that if she were to have to a rap beef with anyone she would call their names on her diss track.
Well, Remy Ma practice what she preached just one day after Minaj took shots at her ‘queen of rap’ comment on track entitled ‘Make Love’ . In the record Minaj says
” You see, silly rabbit / To be the queen of rap / You gotta sell / You gotta get plaques,” ….I rep Queens / Where they listen to a bunch of Nas /I’m a yes, and these b***hes is a bunch of Nah’s “
Remy fired back in less than 48 hours with ‘Shether’; a vicious 7-minute diss track over Nas 2001 classic ‘Ether’ banger.
“Stop talking numbers / You signed a 360 deal through Young Money, through Cash Money, through Republic / Which means your money goes through five niggas before you touch it /Any videos, endorsements come out of your budget / Endorsements, tour and merchandise, they finger-f**k it / You make like 35 cents off of each ducket.”
…..Stop comparing yourself to Jay [Z], you’re not like him / You a motherf***ing worker, not a boss like Rem,”
Remy didn’t stop there, she unleashed a whole leap of alleged rumors and personal insults one of which she boldy slams Minaj for supporting her brother who was indicted last year for predatory sexual assault and misconduct against a 12-year old child.
And I got a few words for the moms of the young barbz/ guess who supports a child molester, Nicki Minaj/ You paid for your brothers wedding/ That’s hella foul/
How you spending money to support a pedophile/ He a walking dead man/Sending threats to him/ I guess that’s why they call you Barbie, you was next to Ken
Minaj responded with a few instagram posts taking shots at Remy Ma’s recent ‘Plato or Plomo’ album sales [which she has deleted] and appearing unbothered in others.
But if we’re going to be honest here, RAP is not rooted in album sales but in B.A.R.S – Lyricism!
I may sound a bit bias being a Bronx native, but our time lines are out of control because of who…….
Who run this mother ……..GIRLS
I’m #allthwayup in this moment right now. This is real Hip Hop!
Nicki, don’t Meek this up.
