Former Jets running back , Joe McKnight was shot and killed last night in Terrytown, L.A following a confrontation with 54 year old white male, Ronald Gasser

Reportedly the road rage incident by one eye witness account who was traveling two cars behind the two says Mcknight and Gasser were driving side-by-side down the busy intersection on Behram Highway  and the got into a verbal dispute. Mcknight is seen approaching Gasser’s vehicle just seconds before he was shot three times in the chest.

Gasser began shooting from inside his car, says the eye witness, and Mcknight was DOA when EMS arrived. Gasser remained at the scene [with gun in hand] until police arrived , he relinquished his firearm upon police request and provided his account of the incident.

Earlier today, the Sheriff’s department chief Newell Normand is defending their decision to release Gasser citing that their interrogation with Gasser, his admission to killing Mcknight, evidence noted at the scene tells them that Gasser acted in self-defense which is protected by the state’s Stand Your Ground Law.

Shortly thereafter, Normand confirms to the press, that he will not reveal any evidence  to the public of the case at this time as they are looking into other eye witnesses despite Gasser’s release and answers the question at hand – Did Mcknight have a gun?

” Mcknight Did Not Have A Gun In His Possession says Normand “

Normand made some questionable remarks at the scheduled press conference. One line that stood out to me is when Normand BOLDLY advises the public to ONLY BELIEVE the story and evidence from his mouth, and the coroner’s office.  Normand didn’t stop there, he followed up with a stern face and PUBLIC WARNING  that any violation of Louisiana’s peaceful protest law will result in ARRESTS and JAIL time.

Hmm! Whaaaaaaat?, No Thanks! Someone may need to tell Normand that the racial tension and division in America right now is literally at a LEVEL 1 Emergency and many folks simply  CAN’T KEEP CALM.

Normand made one revelation saying, that the man who raised Joe Mcknight use to work at the Louisiana police department as a deputy sheriff and therefore promises that a fair investigation will be done.  Interestingly, Normand refused to answer the question on whether Gasser had a ‘license to carry’ and if he had any prior arrests that would prohibit him from concealing a weapon.

The tweets below pretty much sums up my thoughts on the matter. Mcknight’s fatal death is all too familiar, so is the rhetoric that is tossed around in similar crimes, and the non-indictments, hung jury, and or acquittal verdict of these crimes.

Sadly, the ‘RACE CARD’ will always be in play when there is both a white and black person involved in a crime especially when the victim or the deceased person is a black male or female and the  KILLER [or as mainstream MEDIA so oftenly describes non black persons], ‘ THE SHOOTER’ survives.

Joe Mcknight played four seasons with the NY Jets, and one season with The Kansas City Chiefs. Mcknight went off to play Canadian football and had finished one season with the Saskatchewan Rough Riders in August of this year.

One Love PLUMS!
