The week long drama has come to end. After a seven day hiatus, Kelly Ripa made her return to her hosting gig ‘Live With Kelly & Michael’ where’s sat for more than 26 years. Kelly was a no-show following the Michael announcement that he would leaving the show to join ‘Good Morning America’ full time in the fall.
Kelly reportedly was blindsided by the news. She had no idea that Michael was leaving the show, and there was no ‘heads up’ from the executive producers. The notion that Michael’s sudden decision to ‘move on’ could ultimately jeopardize the duo’s current show and cancel the show all together was all too much for Kelly.
Kelly who reportedly earns 15 million took a ‘leave of absence’ which fueled rumors of about the show’s future, and her reportedly estranged relationship with Michael on and off camera. Regis did an interview chat with TMZ reporters where he sot of hints in simple words that Kelly could’ve got backdoored without warning hence the reason for her absence.
Well, now that all is well and Kelly has met with producers and received word that ‘LIVE’ will remain a priority among other communication efforts that will take place going forward, she returned to her post this morning.
Kelly and Michael walked out together holding hands and Kelly took a solo stand in the center of the studio where she received a standing ovation from the crowd before delivering her monologue.
Here’s what she said:
” Guys, Guys, Guys, our long national nightmare is over. Please be seated. Look I am not [pause]… I’m going to be completely honest. I’m fairly certain that there are trained professional snipers with tranquilizer darts in case I drift too far off message.
I first want to honestly, sincerely thank you for welcoming me back to the show. The show of support through this bizarre time has been really overwhelming….I needed a couple of days to gather my thoughts after 26 years with this company. I earned this right, and let’s be honest I know half of you called in sick to be here, so we get each other. “
Kelly went on to congratulate Michael on his new gig, and thanked her team and audience who have been with her through her 26 years for supporting her during this entire drama. While it isn’t clear as to the status of Kelly and Michael’s relationship the two delivered a good show as per usual.
I’d hope to think that 15 million dollars for a part time gig on air would certainly change a person’s perspective. But I also can’t to help to think what would make Michael want to leave this show to join four other co-hosts over at GMA. Things that make you go hmmm!
One Love PLUMS!
