The sneaker phenomenon dates back to 1980’s around the same time as the emergence of Hip Hop, and it has evolved more than a ‘urban fashion trend’.  Professor, Jeymane King introduces a new course in English Lit dedicated to the history of the sneaker culture.

King, who is a subscriber to ‘hip hop’ and ‘sneakers’, says that his intentions are the same as with any other subject. Students will get a chance to examine the phenomenon within the sneaker culture and its connection to related cultural esthetics.

The Origin Of Sneakers? The Growing Obsession Of Sneakers? Social Media Influence, And The High Price Tag For Sneakers will also be examined in this course.
