Court documents says that VanDyke was reloading his weapon when his partner asked him to hold his fire. Back in April, the city top attorney said that the evidence was so damning, they need to approve a 5 $million settlement to McDonald’s family to pre-empt a lawsuit.
‘Black Friday’ in Chicago was met with economic protests for #JusticeOrElse. Protestors walked down Michigan Avenue in downtown Chicago with Rev. Jessie Jackson calling for the resignation of Mayor Emanuel, State attorney, Anita Alvarez , and a request for an independent investigation to be conducted.
President Obama said the following:
” Like Many Americans, I was deeply disturbed by the footage of the fatal shooting of 17-year-old Laquan McDonald. T
his Thanksgiving, I ask everybody to keep hose who’ve suffered tragic loss in our thoughts and prayers, and to be thankful for the overwhelming majority of men and women in uniform who protect communities with honor.
And I’m personally grateful to the people of my hometown for keeping protests peaceful. ”

Van Dyke attorney says his client acted ‘appropriately’ and he felt threatened by McDonald, hence the reason he unloaded a full clip into his body. Van Dyke has been terminated from the police force.
