Where There  Is Good, There’s Bad!

Spoken word poet, Ace Metaphor will not be silent to the MEDIA’s game. Metaphor calls out the subtle conspiracies that lie within the perpetuated ‘exploitation’ of blacks in the Media. Some of tv’s  most popular reality and scripted shows like ‘Scandal’, ‘Love & Hip Hop’, ‘Bad Girls Club’ up to the current ‘Empire’ may be your favorite watch of many but make no mistake of the hidden agenda – says Metaphor.

We Are The Media, Do You Really Think You Got More Influence Over Your Kids Than We Do! ,…. We Are The Media, Where Everything You Are Is A Resolve Of What We’ve Been Feeding You – Metaphor!

Sadly, the reality of our society is that there will always be good and evil and its up to each person to choose their path. I’m no fool to the ills of MEDIA but I’m also aware that similar to music, motion picture films, and art, the stories that are expressed in today’s popular television are a  reflection of our reality.  What was once hidden from the tv screen is now easily access on television and on the internet, but where do we draw the line or as Metaphor says ‘Change The Station’ .

Surely, I don’t indulge in watching some of my favorite late night shows [including two of the mentions above]  with my children ever, nor for the sole intention of MEDIA purposes but I watch to be informed, and yes for the entertainment. I believe that MEDIA as a whole needs its own check and balance system with respect to all,  but my husband and I are not looking for Media to ‘dictate’ or  ‘run’ our household.

It reminded me of a conversation I had recently with a man who is a ‘Shiite Muslim’. The gentlemen was my taxi driver and he was taking me to and from a  scheduled destination.  Following the regular  winter weather conversation, we shifted over into politics. The driver made a comment about the an on-air radio personality [who was currently anchoring] and stated that he felt that the radio anchor spoke too aggressively about Muslims and its culture in response to the ‘ISIS’ threat.

I asked the driver, So Why Do You Listen To His Channel?  He replied: ” I can’t stand this guy,  this man has no idea that when he wakes up every day he is surrounded by millions of Muslims, and I really pray for people like him.  He went on to say, ” there are Muslims, and there are Muslim Extremists and people should separate the two.”  Thus, proving my point exactly. While the drive denounced everything that the radio anchor was saying, he never answered the question as to why he continues to listen; after all he has the choice to CHANGE THE STATION.  It also awakened my own reality, that black people  are not only ones getting  the ‘brunt’ of MEDIA as of late.
