Willow Smith is stirring huge controversy following a recent photo upload of herself posing in a ‘Jean Paul Gaultier’  top which features a painted body image of another with nipples bulging. The 14-year-old latest actions is in support of the controversial #freethenipple campaign.

Despite her tender age, Willow is no stranger to controversy, and she’s often supported by her parents [Will and Jada Smith]  in all of her decisions so I’ll digress from jumping on the ‘she’s too young’ trail, because of I’ve seen so many teens her age dress and do so many  ‘questionable’ things.

Critics feel this was an inappropriate move coming from a young girl whose clearly a ‘role model’ for other teens her age, Willow feels its times to break the rules on society’s ‘girl code of conduct’.

The self proclaim ‘spirit animal’ was praised for her bold activism against ‘sexism’ and ‘genderism’ and while we see this strong stance coming from a 14-year old; it surely beg the question on as a people we need to address the ‘ugly truth’.

Are we comfortable with women walking out in public with their ‘breasts’ out ?

” In NYC, women who expose their breasts [including women who breastfeed their children] in public are jailed for up to three years, and given a 2,500 fine – freethenipple. “

Different what history tells us about the culture on women  [in Africa, Asia, India, and in the Middle East] centuries B.C [before Christianity] there is a huge double standard in our society that allows men to bare their chest freely [including on social media], but when a woman goes topless; she’s far from modest, and called every derogatory name under the sun.

Director of the  ‘Free The Nipple’ film Lina Esco says the movie is inspired by true stories one of which included a friend who was arrested on wall street in NYC for ‘nipple showing’ and decided thereafter to study New York laws and bring awareness to its contradiction.

”  It’s inequality issue, if men can be topless, then women should be topless, I can’t even go to the beach and sunbathe. Recent studies show that PG-13 films have more  gun-violence than Rated-R films.   There is not one sexual act in the movie, but scene in the film.”

Willow is the latest celebrity to join the national campaign and she attests her truth and support of individuality in her ‘Female Energy’ song
