No details have been released regarding the cause of death, but speculation of a possible ‘overdose’ has been ruled into play. Yams used codeine and xanax heavily but he entered rehab in June of last year and got clean. He then issued an apology post to his fans [via tumblr] with a clear message to stay away from drugs but his last tweet on Jan.17 implied to many that he might have relapsed.

Earlier today members of the group along with other notable artists [Azaelia Banks, Wale, French Montana, Drake, Travis Scott, Action Bronson, The Weekend, Chance The Rapper, and more]  in the hip hop community issued heartfelt condolences.

” All of us at RCA Records are shocked and saddened to hear of the death of A$AP Yams. As one of the creative forces behind A$AP Worldwide, Yams’ vision, humor, and dedication to the members of A$AP Mob will always be remembered. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family and friends.”

The NY Times called Yams  the ‘rudder’ to ASAP Rocky and the driving force that led him to secure a 1.7 million dollar deal along with 1.3 deal to fund the A$AP Mob movement. Yams, however had also felt that there were ‘people’ that were trying to pull the two apart similar to other hip hop duo’s [Biggie and Puff, Jay-Z and Dame Dash] .

As speculation Yams death increased on the web, a member of ASAP group spoke out to VladTv, and says Yam’s death was not result of an overdose, and notes that Yams had a different outlook on his legacy and the impact he wanted to leave behind.

One Love PLUM’s!
