Eddie Murphy has turned his sights towards his passion in music! The actor released a new track entitled ‘Oh Jah Jah’ and it’s certified PLUM in my book. I credit this story to my mother who emailed me the track with a ‘you better post to this to your site’ message included.

Like many, I had my reserves at first, and was apprehensive about listening to the track. I revere Eddie Murphy as a comedic legend whose talents reside solely on the big screen, but boy was I wrong.

After listening to the track a few times,  I was truly inspired by the track and Eddie vocals.  For those of you that may be confused by the title song; the term ‘Jah’ is a reference to the ‘Most High God’ as noted in the bible many times.

The  54-year old explained to the ‘Jamaican Observer’ that the song was inspired by the international headlines last year [ie: the controversial shootings in the U.S. and the Ebola crisis].

” I started writing the track about the time those things were going down.  I just think the lyric lent itself to reggae because the topics are so serious. For me, music is like a passion. I write different types of music. I’ve got hours ans hours of music that have not been released. I’m not trying to make money off it, nothing like that. I might do an album this year but we’ll see what the reaction is like to this song. ”

This is not Murphy’s first time on the mic. Two years ago Murphy released a song entitled ” Red Light” featuring Snoop Lion and prior in 1993 with reggae star,  Shabba Ranks. Murphy credits his music influences to artists Marvin Gaye, Bob Marley, Sly, Stevie Wonder, Family Stone, and WBLS radio station.

Sorry to say it, but Eddie can give a lesson to some of the current artists today.

One Love PLUM’s!
