Last month Grammy-nominated soul singer/emcee, Maimouna Youssef’s unveiled her world premiere of her brand new video for “Stay”, from her latest mixtape “The Reintroduction of Mumu Fresh”.
Directed by Brian “B Kyle” Atkins, the video and song make for a breezy, bitter-sweet affair that finds Maimouna (aka Mumu Fresh) exuding a dubious outlook on love. Far from your atypical love song, Mumu’s candid honesty is accentuated by her sharp rhymes surrounded by a moving chorus belted out by Mumu’s soulful, melismatic singing vocals.
Mumu has been on the road touring the world with rap superstar Common, and the new video arrived just in time to prep for her sold-out performance in NYC at Irving Plaza alongside the rapper. Opening performers also include Jay Electronica and Rapsody.
