After almost 20 years of marriage, Chris Rock filed for divorce from his soon-to-be ex-wife Malaak Compton-Rock.  According to the court documents, Chris is claiming ‘irreconcilable differences’ for the reason for the split.

Rock has not released a statement [yet] , but what is known [via the court documents] is that Rock is requesting joint custody of the couple’s two daughters, Lola, 12, and Zahra, 10. Rock says that Malaak has disallowed him to communicate with his children for some time now.

Malaak’s attorney, David Aronson, issued the following statement

” Malaak is saddened and disappointed that Chris has accused her of keeping their children from him, which he knows is untrue and can be so easily disproved. We all know Chris leads a very busy public life while Malaak and their children definitely do not. She opes the privacy of their children is still as important to Chris as it is to her and that it will be respected. They will always be the main focus of her life. “

Rock, 49 is also requesting to be exempt from spousal support duties, citing that Malaak is financial capable of supporting herself. Rock is reportedly worth 70 million dollars, and although he and Malaak signed a pre-nup agreement prior to marrying, their contract  expired once the couple reached 18 years of marriage, thus making Malaak eligible for the 50/50 deal.

Where do they go from here? This divorce is getting messier by the minute, and the number question for the Top Five star is, Will Malaak get spousal support?

Hoping for the best! Stay Tuned PLUM’s!
