Epic Records has confirmed that they will bail out Bobby Shmurda , 20 and fellow labelmate Rowdy Rebel also signed with the label back in July of 2014]. On Wednesday [Dec 17] police arrested Shurmda and his GS9 gang crew outside of New York City’s legendary ‘QUAD’ studios. Shmurda was arrested for conspiracy, reckless endangerment, and gun possession by New York City police.
Commissioner Bill Bratton and Special Narcotics Prosecutor Bridget G. Brennan says:
” Bobby Shmurda was found with two guns, one on his lap and one lodged beside him in a car outside Quad studios. Three additional guns were found hidden in the studios stairwell. A total of 15 arrests and 21 guns were seized during the time of the arrest. Shmurda was caught with the two guns listed in the first row [on far right] of the picture above.
Bobby Shmurda [real name Ackquille Pollard] mother, Leslie Pollard spoke with news reporters following the indictment reading yesterday [Dec.18th] and says she expects her son will make bail and prove his innocence.
Shmurda’s lawyer, Howard Greenberg, believes his client is innocent of the charges. Greenberg told AP
” He is a legitimate entertainer. He is rich, and he is always on tour. Does it make sense that he would resort to committing crimes when he has the world in the palm of his hand, It’s ridiculous. “
Sidebar: things that make you go, hmm! The ‘chained’ arrest image [above] perturbs me.
Can’t say that I’m shocked here. It’s the same scene just a different play. Here’s a young artist with an international hit song ‘Hot N—a’ that set of the ‘Shomoney Dance’ craze this past summer. Like most artists, when they reach success, their crew also reaps the benefits of that success. In this case, Shmurda has brought along his GS9 [aka the gun squad gang crew] which he praises in his song, along with all the bragging rights of ‘being about that gun life’ , drug life, and getting money life’ as seen in his videos.
The popular catch phrase ‘Mitch caught a body about a week ago‘ was simply the spark of the fire to come, and the added braggish behavior on social media and constant money flashing was the added fuel.
The flip side of the coin here is that while fans were hitting the ‘like’ button in support of Shmurda, the NYPD began it’s investigation and monitoring of the twenty year old and his crew.
Let’s Face It, Gangs are the ‘it crowd’ for many teenagers and being part of a gang comes with alot of street credibility, and many youth that are inducted into these gangs CANNOT get out, so if they choose to head on the clean and narrow route while possessing the same friendships, they’re considered affiliated. The baggage of the old life still lingers with them and or crew members, so whether Bobby has no involvement in this or not, there’s clearly too much smoke in this fire, and the NYPD is looking to bur Shmurda and his crew members.
According to reports, there has been a long investigation on Shmurda and his GS9 crew members [some of whom] are wanted for attempted murder charges. Shmurda’s previous gun charge doesn’t allow him to travel out of his hometown arena, and surely doesn’t help his ‘good character image’ hence why the judge dismissed Shurmda’s attorney’s claims of innocence. I hope Shmurda makes some serious changes in his life.
