Family Ties!
Erkyah Badu and her daughter sings Colbie Caillat’s hit song “Try” in perfect harmony. Puma and Mars not only bears a striking resemblance to their mother but they also posses great vocal talent as well. Badu uploaded the video clip on her facebook page and it has become a viral hit since its release two days ago.
I was completely ‘moved’ when I saw the video. There’s no filter and no edits, just a sweet family moment between a parent and her children doing what they love to do.
Interestingly the song was inspired to encourage women to love themselves without the pressures of conformity in the music industry.
Caillat who co-penned the song with Jason Reeves and baby Face told PEOPLE magazine:
” People in this business wanted me to dress a little sexier and kind of change the artist that I was. Babyface told me, You don’t have to try to be someone because people like who you are. “
