FATHERS Don’t Let Their Children Go!
Iyanla’s ‘Fix My Life’ show delivered another POWERFUL message last week on a subject that is still NUMB in the our world – the growing epidemic of fatherless children, the irresponsibility factor, the increase of single mothers, and its severe CONSEQUENCES.
I absolutely loved every part of this show. Iyanla Vanzant provided a step-by-step VISUAL for all of us to see through the actions of one man who fathered 34 children by 17 women . Using doll images to represent his children, Iyanla explains the demanding ‘role and ‘responsibility’ that is required of one when they bring a child into this world.
Iyanla explores the underlying SHAME, GUILT, HUMILIATION, & most of all PAIN that is shared among all parties, and gravely impacted to the newly single mother, and CHILD [who assumes most of the burden]. During the interview, the gentlemen noted that while he is the biological sperm donor for all of his children there was only a selected few that he’d willingly planned children with.
” There were nine women that I had relationships with and children with those mothers also. ” He also contends that getting a VASECTOMY was never an option that he considered.
Sidebar: I was moved to TEARS after watching this. Now, I applaud his honesty but I automatically thought to myself – OMG. Thirty four [ 34] minus [9 ] is 25, thus the remaining 25 children were just children conceived from …..what exactly [ie: a one night stand, casual dating, friendships with sexual benefits, etc.]

Iyanla took the conversation further on her television show and demonstrated that a MAN can be ‘nutured’ and ‘nourished’ by a mother but he has to have his eyes on another MAN to know who how to be a MAN!
