The extraordinary Grammy-nominated soul vocalist, songwriter, emcee and activist Maimouna Youssef (aka Mumu Fresh), has been hard at work as of late. In addition to recording new music, organizing and hosting music workshops in local communities, and prepping for her overseas tour with rapper Common for the 2014 SoulFest, she still has a laundry list of 2015 goals and has called upon all of her fans and supporters for the month of October to help her accomplish them via Kickstarter.
By the spring of 2015, Maimouna seeks to complete her sophomore studio album, shoot three new music videos, and organize her first ever independent world tour.
Confirmed collaborators on the album as of now include Femi Kuti (son of late afro beat pioneer Fela Kuti) and Chucky Thompson (producer for The Notorious B.I.G, Ma$e, etc..).
The Kickstarter campaign, which is set for completion on Friday, October 31st features a multitude of backer incentives including, but not limited to, a signed advance copy of the upcoming album, backstage access to Maimouna shows, exclusive content, a personalized voicemail greeting by Maimouna, and much more.
Visit Maimouna’s Kickstarter campaign page here for more information on all the backer packages, her upcoming album, and to show your support before the campaign’s end on the 31st.
