What is going on in the NFL, and its players?

In the latest news, Minnesota Vikings star running back, Adrian Peterson was terminated from future games after turning himself on a warrant for his arrest in Texas.  According to the news reports, the first draft pick running back is facing ‘child abuse’ charges for ‘whipping’ his son with a ‘switch’.

” For those of you that are unaware, this form of punishment includes getting a tree branch, stripping the leaves, and striking the intended party.”

Peterson has admitted to using this method as a form of discipline and punishment to his four-year old after learning that his child had pushed his other sibling off of a motorbike video game.

” He’s one of the best players in the NFL. Obviously everybody knows that. There’s going to be some interesting times ahead, we don’t know what’s going to happen – say Vikings line backer Chad Greenway. “

Peterson was all smiles for his mugshot and posted $15,000 bond on Saturday in Montgomery  County Texas.

In a recent chat on The NFL show, former NBA hall of famer Charles Barkley was said to be defending Peterson’s actions but Barkley says that his defense comes on the subject of the word ‘beating’ that is used in this case.

” I’m from the south..Whipping is…we do that all the time. Every Black parent in the South is going to be in jail under those circumstances.  We spank kids in the south. I think the question is whether Peterson go overboard? … I think Adrian said he overboard … and maybe we [all] need to rethink it. But I think we need to be very careful in telling people how to raise their kids, there’s a very fine line. ”

Chris Carter also brought a strong argument where he allows us [black people] to examine our cultural history.

” People with any type of  Christian background, really believe in disciplining their child. My mom did the best job she could do, raising seven kids by herself   but there are thousands of things that I’ve learned  since then and realize that my mom was WRONG. She did the best she could but she’s was wrong.

” This the 21 st century but I promise my kids that I won’t teach that mess to them. You can’t beat a kid to make them do what you want them to do. “

” We’re in a climate right now [referring to Ray Rice, Roger Codell nationwide NFL fumble], I don’t care what it is, take him off the field. “

It’s really time to examine ourselves people! I can’t express how much I appreciate the discussions of America these days [as ugly it may appears], and this one of those subjects that has been excluded for many years and is now in dire need of fixing. Whipping’, ‘Beating’, ‘Spanking’, whatever you want to call it needs to be examined as a whole and especially in the black community.

What Are We Really Imitating Here? Wrong is Wrong and Right is Right?

I was not born or raised in the south, but I too am familiar with the selected punishments that are given to children.

It’s interesting how views and opinions are expressed and shared once the visual display of a story is shown. With both the Ray Rice elevator incident, and now the Peterson incident, the punishment was extremely HARSH and it outweighed the actual reasoning of it all; not to mention how HORRIFIC it looks to watch.

As I read through the comments on social media, I clearly see that we need to have more OPEN discussions on these matters because it informs,  helps, and educate people on the the real issues at hand.

I’m sure there’s more to come out from this story … so to be continued PLUM’s!
